I am David, I was born and brought up in Kenya in the 50’s and 60’s.
I have done many things in my life and would like to record them for my future generations. I have also picked up life’s tips along the way, which others may benefit from and finally I have ideas I would like to share.
I am committed to write five Blogs a week for a least a year then review how or if to progress after that.
If even one person finds something beneficial from my Blogs, the effort will have been worth it.
Thanks for reading this.
…..it will become a habit.
Good or bad habit, your choice, however bad is easy!
Many years ago I was at my dentist Roger Scholes in Chichester England when he realised I did not floss my teeth!
Not good apparently, so Roger proceeded to explain that if I wanted to keep my own teeth in old age, flossing was the answer.
Keep your own teeth into old age.
He showed me how to floss correctly and sent me on my way to save myself.
The fear of looking goofy when I got older was a real incentive to take up this great habit, but how was I going to remember ever day?
The same answer the world over, Google it.
Do something for 31 days and it will become a habit, the good news was this was a goofy saving habit.
I started that day, by flossing my top teeth at night (Upstairs) and bottom teeth in the morning (Downstairs) and did it for 31 days.
I am now old, not goofy, still have all my own teeth and I’m still in the habit of flossing every night and every morning. Thanks Roger.
Start a good habit today and do it for 31 days. Good luck.
In 2006 I was fortunate enough to attended a business conference in Dubai.
On one of the days we went out into the desert for some team building. It was March when the temperatures in Dubai were starting to rise, fortunately on this day it was only in the mid thirties!
We were in two teams and each team was transported from site to site in our own very large four wheel drive Land Cruiser.
“Your task is to go to the top of the sand dune where you will see a heavy rope in a large circle. Within the circle buried in the sand are six eggs, you have a maximum of fifteen minutes to locate all the eggs, the team that returns with all the eggs will win Good luck”
Four guys and one gal, went scampering up the dune and dived into the sand in a very competitive mood to beat the other team.
My knees started to burn after about three minutes, roughly the same time it took the team to find our first prize egg. My precious knees must have focused my mind, because I got up and went to stand outside the circle of rope. In that moment one of life’s light bulb moments happened, which I have used at least once a month ever since.
“What are you doing?” One of the other team members shouted. “We have got this all wrong” I replied. “We should have discussed the task and planned our approach first not dive head first into the sand”. More light bulbs came on, we quickly discussed our tactic, found the other five eggs in less than five minutes and won the game.
Don’t rush in, be patient, stand outside the rope, spend valuable time planning and you won’t burn your knees.
T-CUP – Think & Act Clearly Under Pressure
Nearly twenty five years ago I was moaning to a good friend about having to shave every day. It made my face sore and I felt as if I’d been dragged behind a Jeep face down in the desert sand.
Grow a beard I thought, but soon gave up on that idea as my wonderful wife politely explained she would leave me if I did.
Oil, was my friends answer, which made me think of wells and big pipes. Reading my mind he said ” Try King of Shaves“. This was the company in the early nineties that introduced oil, rather than foam or shaving soap and a brush (You might be too young!).
Fast forward to 2018, I’ve been using oil ever since, my old face is smooth, my wife is still with me as I’ve never grown a beard.
I’m now surrounded by sand and dark oil living in the Middle East and had trouble sourcing shaving oil here, so bulk bought my supplies from David Somerset in the UK. I have no connection with the company other than I think their products are amazing and I can’t live without them now.
Don’t wait twenty five years to make your face happy, give it a go today.
Welcome. Thanks for joining me!
